For my first trip abroad without my parents I choose to volunteer for 6 weeks at the Koala program by Fronteering in Australia followed by several weeks of Backpacking before I was to start university in Germany. Supporting real conservation projects worldwide through individual wilderness adventures our ambitions, our values, our service. You arrive in Brisbane, one day prior to the start of the conservation journey. In general, your tasks will be planting trees, removing invasive weed and mulching. The volunteer assesses the situation and, depending on their experience level, will then undertake the rescue or seek further help or advice from our Rescue Coordinator. As part of your five-day to four-week journey you dedicate yourself to conserving the unique environment of these regions: By planting new trees and removing invasive plants you help create and protect critical habitat for koalas and lots of other wildlife like wallabies, possums and kangaroos. Wildlife volunteers at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary play an important role in assisting keepers to efficiently complete daily tasks.
