The Echosex is perhaps closer to the Memory Man, which although has much of that big spaceous tone, is really more like a conventional analog delay, with darker repeats and decay. It has a setting called sustain and it does exactly that without changing my tone at all. It does color the sound but to the color I love. The FLashback is a great alternative for tight budgets or if you just want something a bit more basic. The El Capistan behaves just like a tape machine. Im already the kind to use a tubey for my Roland, Obie, SIEL, etc analog synths as well as VSTis, I also have run some VSTis trough MoogerFoogers for test purposes and these were nice improvements to modelizations for unobtainium synths : the few stuff I A/B tested with the real shit, be it guitar gear or synths, was NEVER on par with the real ones,but while modelizations were horrible when going thru the Dynaudio or PMC monitoring in the studio, while ran through tubeys+Foogers, it was nice to hear it. Delays can be run individually, in series or in parallel - depending on where you set the Bleed control. I still reckon this is a great solution if you are serious about getting as authentic a tape delay sound as possible - with real tape transport and true wow & flutter dynamics. the tone control allows it to go from dmm-ish to tape-ish. You have to enable the tap feature using the PC Toneprint editor (not the app) and connect the footswitch into the R stereo input using a TRS plug, with the switch between ring and sleeve. Level (mix) and feedback (repeats) depends on what tones you want and how the pedal responds to your guitar, amp and other pedals. In fact, together with the Mesa TriAxis, this pair of racks are the two best assets you can get for the PF songbook, you can get even further than DG by adding the Eventide Eclipse to the MPX-G2. Havent tried it, so I cant really tell. I listened comparisons with the T-Rex Replica and Reptile 2, and they seems quite similar for me (except for the flutter part of the Reptile, of course). You should look at the dod rubberneck delay . But when you do look its definitely there. I havent had the chance to try the DIG so I cant really comment on that. I think the Replica is one of the best delays out there but if youre looking for something with a darker tone and more dirt and flutter then look elsewhere. Experiment with the level of these and find a balance than work. The Nova should do sound on sound with the spillover feature. I own a 6U rack with 6 Foogers on 2 tablets, 1 Doepfer 24chan MIDI-to-CV, a RJM router/looper/switcher and some other stompboxes as there is room left on the tablets. You tried many digital (for the Gilmours tones after 1980) delays. Compared to a stand-alone echorec based pedal, this has all the features I would ever need for any situation. The 'Depth' dial here is very useful in getting this pedal to fit in and around your playing - otherwise this is really very vanilla and straightforward.
